Japanese Anemones seem to like my garden and they are most welcome. I think mine is Anemone hupehensis var. japonica.
The blooms look rather delicate and bashful sitting in my vase, reminiscent of a dog rose...
... but the plants are really rather brutish in the garden where they grow taller than me.
They have a long flowering season, blooming from now until September and I enjoy the bold foliage and sculptural buds almost as much as the flowers. As I said, almost:
Bees are never far away.
There is a National Collection of Japanese Anemones in Otford, Kent and in Southampton, Hampshire.
They seem very early. But I suppose I am a lot further north than you.
