It's always fun to see your own work in print.

The editor of Homeworks, a bi-annual Staffordshire Newspapers' publication, has kindly sent me a copy of the latest issue featuring a selection of my half lamps.

Herefordshire Society Magazine Spring/Summer 2012

One of my lamps is featured in the current issue of Herefordshire Society magazine as part of a double page spread on lighting.

This issue also features an article on artist blacksmith Jenny Pickford which pictures her fabulous giant agapanthus sculpture and another on award-winning Malvern artists David Prentice and Dinah Prentice.

Raspberry Pink and Pistachio Green Shade

Pink and green go so well together in home furnishings.  A customer sent me a swatch of a gorgeous embroidered silk fabric and asked if I could make a shade to complement it.  Fortuitously I had just the right colours of plant-paper in stock.

The resulting drum shade is for a period candlestick-style lamp base and will bring a contemporay twist to the scheme.

 

 

 

Herefordshire Art Week 10-18 September 2011

The 10th h.Art opens on Saturday and for sure I am not the only artist still busy making.  This year there are 103 venues and 150 artists taking part.

 

Once again I will be setting up my sewing machine and displaying my lamps and shades alongside Jenny Pearce, the basket maker in Canon Frome.  I'm excited to have a newly decorated 'studio space' this year with doors opening onto Jenny's lovely rural garden.  Do call in for tea and cake and see what's new.

 

We have joined forces with 8 other local venues to create an easily accessible trail taking in Canon Frome, Bosbury, Bishops Frome, Cradley, Alfrick and Bransford and thanks to Sue at Blue Ginger Gallery for organising us all again this year.  Download the following map and info here:

Colourful wall shade

My favourite lampshade from the latest batch of commissions is this:

 

It is based on a lampshade design I created a few years ago (below left) that the customer spotted on my website, which I adapted to complement the carved leaves and petal-like lampholder of her fabulous wooden wall-light fitting (below right).

  

It was delivered safely to Scotland last Friday and I received a lovely message on my answerphone saying "I love it, it's absolutely gorgeous and when switched on it's just magic".  Who can ask for more than that?

 

A great way to end the term!
